I managed to get my sister K and Niece C to go out tonight and see Cooder Graw with me in Webster. ~woohoo~ I thought one would cancel if the other found out they were going but it didn't happen so I was very happyand pleased that they managed to act like adults and get over each other's attitude. I think it helped the situation by the fact that a stranger was buying our drinks and it took me 9 drinks (combined, not 9 for me) to figure out who it was that was buying them. The only thing that meant was that I had to dance with him since Sister K and Niece C won't dance. Sister K said the man looked like Gary P. Nunn but I didn't see it...ok, maybe it was the hat. The crowd was sparse as usual @ Big Texas. No advertising means no one shows up and if you don't play the music on the local stations, people don't know who it is and won't pay money to hear someone they've never heard of. If this place ever advertises, it's not regular enough or if they advertise on the radio, they need to find another station because everyone knows that Houston radio sucks. Houston has many radio stations and they all play the same crap over and over again all day long. If you're a musician in Houston, move to Austin. You'll never get any airplay in this town. They believe that Clear Channel is the best thing around and I know and well as many others, CLEAR CHANNEL SUCKS!!! (Thank you for listening to my rant. Now back to Cooder Graw.) A good time was had by all and as usual, Cooder Graw put on a good show. It's too bad about them. They'll be breaking up at the end of the year. If you're a fan, try to go out and see them. I begged my Friend K who lives down @ Surfside Beach to go to see Cooder Graw with me this past Saturday night in Brazoria. She seemed to have a good time...I did anyway. It's not typically what Friend K listens to but she likes Cooder Graw. We had 1200 pics to take and we took only 100+ and she's going to send me a CD with all of the pics when she can. I'll be sure to post some of the better ones...I know there were a couple of pics taken of shoes/boots and tables/chairs but she'll delete those and only send the GOOD ones. I had my usual buzz going on so there was no headache involved and boy was I ever glad! ~woohoo~ I saw Friend R from Angleton and found out that he recently got married...can't remember her name but we've got a pic...lol Also pics of friends D & B dancing together and a cousin of theirs. Cooder Graw will be breaking up at the end of the year so if they come to your hometown, try to make it out to see them. Martindale will be doing his own thing but I'm unsure about the others...all I can do is hope they find something to do that earns them a living and makes them happy. These was a sparse crowd there that night and figure there'd have to be 300+ people to be there for you to even notice them. Johnny Law was there working the door and EVERYONE knows how I feel about him. "I ain't got nothing to say to Johnny Law, naw." Back to the Cooder Graw show...light crowd but you could tell the ones that were there wanted to dance and I would've if I could've. I kinda think you have to have a partner to dance properly but I ain't that prim & proper type so get over it! At least I didn't jump on the stage with the band...anyway, come on out to see Cooder Graw this month and next if you can. I'm sure that they'll appreciate the support! SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!!!
Update * Jason Boland & the Stragglers Stolen Trailer & EquipmentFROM JASON BOLAND & THE STRAGGLERS:** Stolen trailer found, no equipment, cancelled show **After discovering that the trailer was stolen today, the Fort Worth Auto Task Force found the trailer this evening. Special thanks to them and all the other police departments that helped in the recovery of the trailer, and 95.9 The Ranch and 99.5 The Wolf for putting out bulletins describing the trailer in case someone saw it on the road. The police feel that the suspect heard the announcement and dumped the trailer as soon as he could.Unfortunately, all of the equipment as gone, as well as the majority of merchandise and most sickening, the toys we had been collecting on the road for the toy drive. We are working on an equipment list with serial numbers and descriptions as best we can. Hopefully, some of the equipment, merch, cases, toys, etc. will be recovered. Right now, we regretfully have to cancel the show in New Orleans at the House Of Blues due to all of us being in shock over what has happened. We are trying to beg, borrow but not steal equipment to use for the Beaumont show and beyond.JB&S will go on, although a huge set back in our minds and hearts, we all still have the ability to make music. We do ask that if you hear of anyone in the Fort Worth or Dallas area with some really nice equipment for sale, contact us or your local authorities. Also, we ask that you repost this bulletin so that more people can be aware of the situation in any hope to recover any of the stolen equipment. We will see you all soon,JB&Shttp://www.myspace.com/jasonbolandthestragglers
***I listen to this from the time I get to work in the AM until I leave...they don't play the Nashvegas music & dog & pony shows that I hate so much. Give them a listen...you'll like it!!!**When RadioFreeTexas went on the air in March of 2005 there was no fanfare and no big splash. We just started playing the best damned music in the world. At first a few people discovered us by accident. Then those people told some people who told some people who told some people. And the telling hasn't stopped since. The facts do not lie. RadioFreeTexas has been responsible for introducing thousands of people to the Texas/Red Dirt music scene. And the listeners have been responsible for introducing those thousands to RadioFreeTexas. The key ingredient to our success has been you - the avid fan and listener. At first, it was "random acts of promotion" spurred by a love for the music and the station by the listeners. This was the beginnings of our street team and the origin of the Radio Free Texas Rangers. As we saw this trend continue, we set out to develop a way to organize those who wanted to let others know about RFT and the Texas/Red Dirt scene and wanted to support both. We also wanted to find a way to reward those committed individuals for their actions. For months we scratched our heads, researched, asked questions and planned. And now, RadioFreeTexas is proud to present... Click here!
