Drummer Joke

A drummer, tired of being ridiculed by his peers, decides to learn how to play some "real" musical instruments.
He goes to a music store, walks in, approaches the store clerk, and says "I'll take that red trumpet over there and that accordion."
The store clerk looks at him a bit funny, and replies "Well, okay, I guess you can have the fire extinguisher. But the radiator's got to stay."

Jack Ingram Saturday night...

http://www.jackingram.net/
Took a little road trip this weekend to visit my friend Kim in Lake Jackson and to see Jack Ingram in Angleton. It was an outdoor show, hotter than hell and mosquitos were bad but the show was great. Chris Masterson was tearing it up!!! I saw Jack in the parking lot and said hi to him and then when he was on stage, he said "I saw you in the parking lot" or something like that...I was unsure that he was actually talking to me until Kim confirmed it. As usual, I bought ANOTHER black T-shirt. duh...

Cooder Graw & Django Walker

What a difference a change in venues make!!! The show last nite at the Washington Co. Fair http://www.washingtoncofair.com/ was the best I'd seen in awhile. I took Anthony with me since he loves Cooder Graw (Matt is his favorite). Jim and Linda were there...Mandi and her friend were there, Nick's parents, and I also saw Russell who I hadn't seen in a very long time. Check them out if you haven't had the chance!!!

Concert Announcement!!! ha

Saturday, October 1st Reliant Stadium Confirmed performers: George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, ZZ Top, Willie Nelson The Gulf Coast has experienced one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history. Now Houston will be the site for one of the biggest fundraisers to benefit its survivors. On one day, superstars George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson and Martina McBride will perform in Houston to raise money for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts – and they are bringing their friends with them! From his first Number One song, 1982’s “Fool Hearted Memory”, through his 51st, “I Hate Everything” the words “George Strait” and “country hit” have been synonymous. In fact, he has scored more Number One songs than any other single artist in history and has sold over 62 million records - amassing 28 platinum or multi-platinum discs –more than any other country artist. Reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year, Kenny Chesney will thrill the crowd with one of his legendary live performances and treat fans to his last concert of 2005. Having played to over one million fans each of the last three years, the man whose quadruple platinum When The Sun Goes Down, has been the soundtrack of the past two summers is thrilled to do his part. Add in yet one more superstar - Alan Jackson! In the midst of another amazingly successful tour himself, Mr. Jackson has sold over 43 million records and has amassed 31 Number One hits—including 21 he both penned and performed as well as two additional chart-toppers he penned for fellow artists. Other performers scheduled to appear is the current CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride (CMA Female Vocalist of the Year) and Texas legends Willie Nelson and ZZ Top. Ms. McBride has scored 18 top ten country hits and has five platinum and three triple platinum records to her name. Nelson, one of the most prolific songwriters and performers of our generation, is certainly one of the most generous humans alive. Not only is he the author and performer of countless hit songs, he is also one of the founders of his own initiative, Farm Aid. Louis Messina, New Orleans native and President of The Messina Group/ AEG, is one of the driving forces behind this event. “I watched my birthplace float away,” says Messina, “ I knew I needed to help, and this is the way I could reach the most people.” Fellow Co-Chairs, Dr. Carolyn Farb, author and well known philanthropist and Chairman of the Board of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Paul Somerville, answered the call to action and pledged their talents and resources to ensure the promise of this once in a lifetime event. Already at the forefront of the Houston relief effort, Shea Guinn, GM of Reliant Park says, “We are eager to be a part of such an incredible event that has the potential to provide additional mass relief to our Gulf Coast neighbors.” Reliant Stadium has donated complete use of the facility and all related services, including staff and the proceeds from parking as well as food and beverage sold at the event. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, known for its commitment to helping others, has graciously joined the effort by offering the use of its production facilities, underwriting crew costs and unleashing the full strength of its fulltime staff and 17,000 member volunteer force. Ticketmaster has also pledged its full support through donating all service and convenience charges to the cause. The show is being produced entirely with donated equipment and services – from the sound and lights, to the stage, the crews, the artists, security and ushers – all the elements necessary to put on a first-class show. This concert will truly benefit the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Benefactors to date: Aggreko, Anschutz Entertainment Group, Carolina Holdings, Inc, Carey Limousine, Kenny Chesney, Cube Inc, Gina Rotolo Public Relations, Hotel Icon, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Alan Jackson, LD Systems, Martina McBride, The Messina Group, Mojo Barriers, Morris Leasing, Willie Nelson, Reliant Park, Screenworks, ShoMotion, Show Pros Entertainment Services, StageCo, George Strait, Ticketmaster. 100% of the proceeds from this historic event will go to benefit the courageous survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The focus of this effort is two-fold. Its first commitment is to provide immediate assistance to the relocated survivors. The second is to spur the process of rebuilding the gulf coast region and allow the displaced an opportunity to return home and build their lives once again. One Country is researching potential beneficiaries in an effort to find a charitable organization(s) that can maximize the mission of the project and put the funds raised to work on the front lines.

The way they're carrying on on the radio, you'd think Hank Williams Sr. is back from the dead and putting on a free show...

Kenny Chesney is a "fraud"...lol

Cooder Graw

http://www.coodergraw.com
Last night I went to Conroe, TX to see Cooder Graw. I think I had somewhat of a good time...it sure could've been better. In my mind, there was something wrong with the sound last night and unless you were directly in front of the stage, it sounded like...umm...well, not their best. I could hear every note the bass player hit, every note the fiddle player play and every stroke of the drummer, but everything else (guitar player and singer) sounded muted. I think that's why some of the people left early...that and having to wait 10-15 minutes for sound check.

Rodney Crowell & Sean Reefer & the Resin Valley Boys

I got a chance to see Rodney Crowell last nite at the Continental Club. We had originally started out going to Cactus Records because he was going to be there for a free acoustic show/new CD release party with free beer. I stopped by mom's on the way there and she gave me $20 and told me to buy the new CD for her and have it autographed for her which I did. When I bought it, the girl behind the counter asked if I was going to the show tonight to see him and I said no. I didn't get paid today as expected so I'll be missing it. Then she told me since I had purchased the new CD, I could get my name on the guest list...woohoo!!! When I got the CD autographed, he asked if I had purchased the CD at Cactus and that I could get in free tonight if I did. He was such a nice guy...not like some of the backstabbers I'm used to being around!!! After the show, we stopped by the Big Top and caught a couple songs from Sean Reefer and the Resin Valley Boys...he covered a Hank III song especially for us...and Otto was selling merch for Rodney. It was good to see him again...
