Some of my Favorites...in no particular order!!!

Dale Watson 11-25-05 @ Blanco's

I can't seem to pass up on any Dale Watson shows. It could be because of the fact that he is moving to MD after the 1st of the year and possibly retiring. It's a sad day in TX...Dale Watson is leaving us. The show at Blanco's was attended by myself & Sister K...along with the "wrecking crew" (which we're members of) and totaled about 10 that night. History repeating itself (as it often does for me), I had to jump on the stage and dance around like an idiot during "that song"...the same song that always makes me jump onto the stage when I've had toooo many beers. Come to think of it, I think I had encouragement from others there along with Dale which led me to make an ass out of myself (again). Oh, well. I think I entertained my friends and Gene forgot the words to "that song" during my antics...a song he's been singing for many, many years. You've only got a few more chances left this year to see Dale Watson. If you've never seen him before, check him out. He's the real deal...real country music. The way is used to be...not the "nashvegas" crap that is called country music these days...like Big and Rich or Kenny Chesney. Ask Dale. He'll tell you all about it!!! Setlist 11-23-05 JB&S Corpus Christi, TX

I did manage to get two hugs and 3 waves that nite... ;-)

Jason Boland 11-23-05 Corpus Christi, TX

I did not take the above pic, but if you'll go to the link, you'll see the person who did and many more pics that she managed to take and share with the rest of the fans.

The roadtrip began as soon as I left from work at noon. I had a few errands that I needed to take care of and did then I rushed home for a quick shower and to change my clothes. Getting out of Houston was a nightmare but I managed to do it without any fatalities. (I hate Sugar Land, it's official now.) We left around 2:30 PM and headed toward Corpus Christi and got there in plenty of time to eat before the show...I ate but Sister K was too excited to eat. (and she actually expected me to stop on the way home so that she could eat...ha) Anyway, High Speed Hayride opened for Jason and put on a good show. I hung out in the back of the club and lurked in the shadows during their set but from what I could see and hear, all is going good with them and they've improved since I saw them last several months ago. Jason hit the stage a little around 10 or so and that's when we left our table and chairs and headed dutifully to the front of the stage. JASON BOLAND & THE STRAGGLERS ARE BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!!! I could not stand still!!! I danced around during the show like a drunk but I was not the one that was screaming out for Jason to play "Nymphomaniac"...he was the drunk at the show and tried to get others to chant along with him. Jason tried to be nice to the guy but finally had to tell the guy that he did not write the song. Some guy from Ohio who's name escapes me now wrote it and he was not going to sing it. Yeah, Jason!!! I know he wanted to play longer but since the place closes early (midnight), he played his song, hung around for pics and autographs and entertained the whole 100 of us there...

Cooder Graw 11-17-05

The above is a new pic of the band. Don't they look great? They sound pretty damn good everytime that I see them too and last night was no exception. Sister Kelly and I went down to Webster to the Big Texas Dance Hall and Saloon http://www.bigtexassaloon.com/ to see the guys. Although I was surprised at the turn-out (or lack of) , I saw a few friends of mine that I know through the band and we proceeded to have a good time. Well, Sister Kelly and I did anyway. I managed to "suck it up" and not be my usual mean self and I also made a few "threatening" phone calls from the restroom to my "so-called" friends that live in the area but for some strange reason, couldn't manage to make it out that night. I EVEN passed a secret note to someone special to me (or used to be) and his reply was a large smile and a "maybe". I couldn't stick around long after the show to see if he would hold true to his "maybe" but we did manage to sneak on the bus and chat for a minute or 2 with Matt. I miss the old days when we used to see how many people that we could fit in the back of Lorena though...the good ol' days.

We started out at the Alabama Ice House. Sean Reefer and the Resin Valley Boys http://www.srrvb.com/were playing and then we went to the Armadillo Palace Friday night to see Mike Mancy Band with Sister Kelly. I swear, everytime that I see them, they get better!!! Saw a few people there that I knew and a good time was had by all. I'll have a few pics to post later on in the week.
