Jason Boland & The Stragglers 12-16-05
Got a late start headed out that night...was planning on stopping by the Continental Club early to meet up with some friends but they were having a private party so we wound up next door at the Big Top. Dale Watson www.dalewatson.com was playing @ the Cont'l...hated to miss the show but after all Boland was in town. We did catch a glimpse of him while we were at the Big Top though and ran into some of our friends there...had a beer then headed over to the Firehouse Saloon. www.firehousesaloon.com No Justice www.nojustice.com was playing when we got there and the place was packed. I've never had to park as far from the bar as we did that night... No Justice sounded better than I remembered them ever sounding before (make note that it's been a long time since I've seen them) and they actually played a long set for an opening band. Did you know that the Firehouse Saloon has a fireplace? I don't know how many times that I've been there before and have never seen it before and believe you me, that's where I stayed most of the night, by the fireplace since I was freezing my ass off...and I drank plenty but couldn't get warm!!! There were plenty of "drunktards" in front of the stage so I stayed my distance. I ran into a couple that I know from over at Galleywinter www.galleywinter.com also and talked to them briefly...they asked us to join them at their table but lucky for me, I found another table close to the fireplace!!! woohoo Also ran into Jim & Linda selling merch for No Justice...
Anyway, when Jason hit the stage, the crowd was more than ready for him. It was a good set and Dub Miller showed up and joined Jason for "Merry Christmas from the Family" and did a good job of it...he knew the words!!! The crowd (me & Sister K included) loved Jason and the Stragglers that night and will see him again the next time he's in town.

How's he handling the not drinking thing. I personally find it much harder to not drink than to not do drugs...
He wasn't drinking but I drank enough for us both...told him after the show "sorry, but I can't join you on the wagon"....
