Sister K and I went out last night to catch some live music...again. ha! Anyway, we first headed out to Blanco's since the McKay Brothers were playing and I'd never seen them before and have wanted to since I first heard them. Shows usually start around 9 or so there so we got there early. $7.00 cover charge and $10 buckets of beers...that's 6 domestic beers and we were happy. I had a good time and enjoyed their music and didn't want to leave after the first set but since I was on the guest list out at Big Texas in Clear Lake for Doug Moreland's show, we had to leave. As we were leaving, we ran into one of Sister K's co-workers who I had invited out...I told the stupid bitch that we were getting there early so I guess early to her is 10PM...dumbass. But she did get there in time to see the 2nd set and hope she enjoyed them as much as I did. If you get a chance and want to hear some really good music, check them out.
We headed from Blanco's to Big Texas and made it in record time. The ride home was another story...I'll get to that in a minute. Anyway, I had gotten a call earlier in the day from Dan Johnson and he told me that he was now playing steel guitar in Doug's band and I was happy for him. We'd been fans of Doug for awhile now and enjoy his sense of humor, his music, the band members...the whole deal. The band was playing when we got there and of course we stayed til the bitter end and talked to Dan afterwards. He told us that they'll be @ Blanco's next week & to be sure to call him beforehand & he'll put our names on the guest list. ~woohoo~ I'm already excited about next week!!! Good show, plenty of drinkin' and funny jokes as usual and we really had a good time and laughed along with him and the band at their antics. Shooting tequila and chasing it with whiskey...big fun. lol Now comes the part where I fucked up. I should've have watched the weather before heading out to Clear Lake/Webster. The fog was so thick on the way home that I thought I was going to kill us both but somehow I made it home alive. I swear, we had to get north of DOWNTOWN Houston before we could drive faster than 40-50 mph and determined that south of Houston must be below sea level because I've lived here all of my life and have NEVER witnessed such thick fog. Now I know what "Dense Fog Alert" means...
Anyway, if you get a chance please check out the McKay Brothers http://www.myspace.com/mckaybrothersband or Doug Moreland http://www.myspace.com/dougmorelandshow
and if your head isn't too far up your ass, you might hear something that you like other than the crap that Clear Channel force feeds you and the rest of the "sheeple". That is all...
