Doug Moreland 1-11-06 @ Big Texas Dancehall & Saloon

Sister K and I managed to get a couple of tickets from Rachel Allstate to go and see Doug Moreland at Big Texas Dancehall and Saloon. We'd been to the place with the same name down in the Clear Lake/Webster area before but not to the one in Spring. When we arrived, we'd been there before but there'd been a name change. We'd never seen Doug before and were excited about seeing him...even if we were worn out from skating the night before. As fate would have it, SuperDave called me when we were inside of the club and believe it or not, I heard my phone. If you've ever tried to call me on my cell phone, you'd understand. We had an extra ticket and told him to call again when he got there and he could get in for free also. It was only a $5.00 cover charge to get in and "supposedly" $1.75 beers all night long...that is if you like Budweiser. We waited and waited for him to hit the stage and finally around 10:30 he started. Why o' why does a bar make people wait so late for the band to start on a weeknight when there's no opening band and force us to listen to that "nashvegas" crap? There are some things in life that I'll never understand and this is one of them...
Anyway, he was worth the wait. He really put on a good show. I've heard many things about him but one thing that I've never heard about him is that he's a fiddle player AND a guitar player. The stand-up bass and the keyboard was most definitely different...not something you see everyday in the bands around today. We stayed til the last song and Sister K was doing all the talking...how was Steamboat kinda questions...ha Doug's even got a new little girl dog named Sadie... ;-)
