Lots of music & some missed recently...

I've seen lots of live music recently but I've also missed some very important shows. It's been awhile since I've blogged about it so here goes...

Friday April 28th - Crawfish Festival in Old Town Spring
Sister K and I went that night to see Ray Wylie Hubbard
http://www.raywylie.com/. Hayes Carll http://www.hayescarll.com/ was there also that night so I finally got to see him with a band. I don't particularly care for him acoustic but with a band, I really liked him. And then there was Ray Wylie Hubbard. What a show he puts on!!! I tried to maintain control that night but found it hard to do so I drank plenty of beer, purchased a new hat and then proceeded to go backstage and drink the bands beer since I saw someone that I knew there. I only drank 4...ok, 2 for me and 2 for Sister K so I didn't do too bad.
Saturday April 29 - Crawfish Festival in Old Town Spring

I was supposed to go and see Cooder Graw http://www.coodergraw.com/ and Jesse Dayton http://www.jessedayton.com/ that night but as fate would have it, I had one helluva a headache and stayed at home....pissed at the world. I was actually pissed at myself for causing all of the injuries that I've done to myself and making me crippled some of the time. I was supposed to go to the festival again on Sunday to see Jarrod Birmingham http://www.jarrodbirmingham.com/ but my health wouldn't allow it. I ate a handful of pills and forgot about it. That's all that I could do.
Friday May 5th - Armadillo Palace
I went alone this time to see Cooder Graw
http://www.coodergraw.com/ since I'd missed them the previous week. I think this was the first time to play at the Armadillo Palace and I'm sure they weren't pleased with the sound system there since they're used to playing LOUD...I mean VERY LOUD. I sat with Jim and Linda that night since they had a vacancy at their table and believe it or not, I only had one beer. The rest of the night I drank water...I think my body was craving it or something because I damn sure didn't feel like drinking any beer. The regulars were there for the show - Friend B and Wife D, the turtle woman and Friend C and a few others who's names have momentarily left my mind. After the show, I talked to Paul about all of the problems that I've been experiencing lately because I knew he could relate to some of it. I've determined that I'm not having neck surgery...thanks for convincing me, Paul.
Saturday May 6th - Uglys
Well...I was supposed to go to this place and meet up with the wrecking crew to see JB Beverley and the Wayward Drifters
http://www.waywarddrifters.com/ and the U-Joints but as usual, my head was killing me and I ate a handful of pills and eventually got over it.
Wednesday May 11th - Puffabelly's
Sister K and I met up at Puffabelly's because Friend S was craving some intelligent conversation. From us? I can't imagine... Bonnie Bishop
http://www.bonniebishop.com/ was playing that night and we'd never seen her before. I wasn't impressed with her guitar picking but she's got a helluva voice. Someone was spreading the rumor that she'd just picked up the guitar in December but I think she needs more practice before playing an acoustic gig. Then again, what do I know?
So that's it in a nutshell. I'm supposed to go out Saturday night to see the Mike Mancy Band
http://www.mikemancyband.com/ at the Armadillo Palace but with my health being as it is, who knows what the weekend has in store for me?
